Let's face it. Cute little hats are just the best. Newborns are adorable just on their own...but add a chunky knit hat or a cute little bonnet and the cuteness levels start to go off the charts. I like to keep my little home studio in northeast Portland stocked with such items at all times. Little knit bonnets, tie-back headbands for girls, mini bowties for boys, a little golden crown or two...but when a mom brings in vintage map-themed props from her nursery and adorably authentic grandma-knit hats to her photography session, I can't help but get excited! Not to mention, mom and dad are like the epitome of a cute Portland couple! How beautiful is this family?!!! I hope you enjoy these images from their recent newborn session. Little Ripley and his family were so much fun to photograph. :)
The Sturgeon Family
Last week I got to hang out with this adorable little family. Without me even asking, they showed up completely color coordinated, ready with multiple outfits, and planned out each outfit according to their ability to quickly change in and out of them. How great is that!? But not only do they get the "Best Dressed" award in my books, but they just might get the "Most Creative Family" too. Why, you ask? The Ice Cream Point System. Yes, you heard me. As our session progressed, the two youngsters began to grow restless with each shot. So, with each photo they executed with smiles, mom and dad would grant them ice cream points...or deduct if necessary. The kids loved it!! In between each shot they would exclaim, "Did we get another ice cream point!?", "How many do we have now!?", and "Who's winning?!" Eventually, the younger son had a brilliant epiphany and shouted, "I know, Dad! Each point should be one scoop of ice cream!!" To which dad muttered under his breath, "Oh boy...I've got to be less liberal with my point-giving..."
Thank you Tony & Vanessa, for letting me capture your beautiful family. You were a delight to photograph, and I hope these photos will bring you joy for many years to come.
Happy Holidays!
